Can success happen overnight? Well it certainly seems to be the case for this stay at home mom. After attending her first ever Christain Woman's Conference this stay at home mom had a blessed idea (Denise & Her Fabulous Handbags). The only problem is that she did not own a sewing machine, nor could she sew. But these little factors did not stop this determined stay at home mom. Denise states, "I went right out to Sears and bought the cutest little sewing machine I could find and then I went and found fabric that I liked and started experimenting." And experienced or not her creations were an instant hit, "It's really funny because I ended up selling over twenty handbags within that first week and I did not even have them made yet."She jokes that after making her first handbag, she just fell in love with it and a new handbag addiction was born! "I am now currently taking custom-orders and expanding my line to include vacation and carry-on totes.

My head is still whirling when I think about the blessing that I have been given." Denise & Her Fabulous Handbags are available exclusively through HerFabulousHandbags.com, and can also be found at select upscale boutiques and other fine retail establishments.

Love My Bag, LLC has announced a call for models at colleges nationwide. This spring Love My Bag founder Jill Savarese will go on the road to promote up and coming designers with on-campus photo shoots and fashion events. Last fall Love My Bag held its first modeling event at Yale University. "Everybody had a great time, including those who participated, and those who watched, as students strutted around modeling designer handbags," said Savarese. "The courtyard, library, and common room of Calhoun College [at Yale, were transformed during our three-hour shoot with photographer Kim Heiligman.

We had wardrobe changes, fashion accoutrements like red-feather boas, and, of course, an eclectic array of handbags featuring the hottest trends of the season."Savarese attended Yale as an undergraduate and graduated with a degree in linguistics. Her fond feelings for her alma mater naturally influenced her decision to hold the photo shoot there as did the vibrant atmosphere it provided. Savarese said, "When I initially conceived the idea for doing a model shoot, I knew I wanted the setting to be Yale University. Its autumnal, collegial ambience was exactly what I was looking for to complement the Fall line of handbags."The eight models (two male, six female) were cast after a rigorous selection process the week before when a number of hopeful candidates streamed into the common room of Calhoun College, all looking to secure a place in front of the camera. Candidates filled out a personal profile and went through a short interview with Savarese and handbag designer Ashley Harrison.

Models were also encouraged to submit photos. Savarese remarks, "I was pleasantly surprised by how many students showed up and how eager they were. They approached fashion modeling with a great deal of seriousness and commitment."The students' display of enthusiasm caused Savarese and her team to agonize over the selection process, but after two days of poring over photographs and profiles, they selected eight models. She says, "The way I think about handbags is that each bag has a distinct personality, and something magical happens when you discover your perfect handbag. For me, that's truly one of the great feats of fashion."On the day of the shoot Savarese provided the designer handbags, and students brought their own choice of dress and accessories, keeping in mind the fall's trends of faux fur, tweed, houndstooth and crystal brooches.

Like children to a gigantic cookie jar, the students delved into Savarese's collection of designer handbags in hopes of finding and modeling that "perfect" handbag. "Jill's collection is amazing ? she has something for everyone. By the end of the shoot, I had my eye on so many bags and wanted to take everything home," one female model said. And while it's true that students could not take everything home, they were entitled to a custom-made CD containing their photos and $100 in cash or credit to be redeemed for handbags or any other item, like wallets, mints or fashion notebooks, sold on the website: www.lovemybag.com. Savarese plans to update the site with pictures from upcoming photo shoots. Said Savarese, "It's an honor to work with such a stellar group of animated, young people.

It's a pleasure for me to be able to inject their lives with a healthy dose of fashion and bring out the glamour in them. We all need that at some point in our lives, and it's rewarding to know these students were able to experience that through Love My Bag.com."About Love My BagLove My Bag promotes and sells authentic designer handbags and encourages customers to be informed.

In fact, Hong Kong's South China Morning Post called the first edition the ?bible of cross-border shopping'. The book sold out in just 10 months. In her current release, The "Updated Version", she mainly focuses on fashion but has also included a new section on buying original Chinese antiques. First time author and Hong Kong resident Ellen McNally says her motivation for writing the book was to make a shopping spree to Shenzhen, a short 40-minute train ride from Hong Kong, a fun and pain free experience. "Tourists and local residents alike have so little time to shop that they want to make their experience efficient and get value for their money.

I want to make it easy for them and give them a comfort level even before they cross the border into China," McNally explains. The first edition was snapped up by English speaking Hong Kong shoppers eager to find bargains in the world's newest shopping Mecca. Tourists to the area have endorsed the book as well. "McNally takes you by the hand. Were it not for this super little book, I would have turned back and gone to my nice hotel room in Hong Kong. The guide was so great, I went back twice!" said Ros Pleatman of Cincinnati, Ohio.

Shop in Shenzhen ? an insider's guide, is an easy to use guide, the size of a CD box and if used wisely before and during a trip to Shenzhen, it saves shoppers time, energy and money. McNally gives you:? How to get there, what to expect, what to do besides shopping? Where to shop? How much to pay and how to negotiate the best deals? Where to find the best deals on everything from handbags, to massages, jewellery, tailored clothes, shoes, boots and much more?..???????? Ms. McNally first heard about shopping in Shenzhen when one of her HK friends raved about the deals in this warehouse city. She decided to check it out and found fabrics to die for, excellent custom tailoring for a song, pearls, semi-precious stones, handbags, shoes and much more?all at amazing prices. It took her two years of research to unearth all the deals but after that first trip, McNally made it her mission to help shopaholics with champagne tastes get their fashion fix at Chinese prices.

McNally has certainly taken the frustration out of Shenzhen shopping. She has covered Lowu Commercial City, a huge mall, in detail with specific shop recommendations for close to 100 product and service categories. The guide also covers the city's main shopping areas including furniture and antique shops. This new release covers everything you need to know about buying original Chinese antiques (and having them delivered to your country!) in the city of Zhuhai, just over an hour away by Hong Kong's comfortable and convenient ferry system. "Shop in Shenzhen ? an insider's guide" is available at local Hong Kong bookstores, at the airport and on McNally's website, www.shopinshenzhen.com.

It retails for HK$95. ($US12.00) Ellen McNally had a successful career as a corporate marketing consultant in America prior to relocating to Hong Kong. She also worked as a marketing research director for several multinational corporations. She is currently working on her next book. ????????????.

Looking to find more time to do the things you enjoy most? Try looking in your closet. No, you won't find that extra 15 minutes shoved in the left toe of your favorite pair of shoes. But, you might just find it in the time it takes you to dig out that pair of shoes. A cluttered closet will rob more of your time than you realize. How often do you spend 15 minutes shuffling through piles of shoes and sweaters, belts, ties and handbags only to give up and wear a less than perfect pair?If you have ever found yourself in this predicament then you are ready to clear your clutter and organize your closet.Did you know that you could gain up to two hours every day through simple suggestions that will help you organize your closet and take control of your time.

And further, organizing your life and clearing your closet will not only afford you more time, it will lighten your stress load and help you lead a healthier, happier life.If you could save up to two hours every day by organizing your closet, would you do it? Most people love the idea of saving time, but dread the idea of organizing their overstuffed closets. As a culture we cultivate disorganization from a young age ? did you ever shove everything into your closet when your mother suggested that you clean your room?Organization doesn't have to be a dreaded task ? but rather a thing of beauty.First, you'll want to break down closet organization into easily digested solutions that involve what I like to call "helper items." There are numerous ways to organize your closet: A cedar wardrobe closet may be an ideal solution for you and your cornucopia of wool sweaters; drawer dividers will help you keep those workout socks where they belong, to the right of your dress socks; and don't underestimate the power of the hanger ? hanging a bulky leather jacket on a spindly wire hanger may find that expensive leather on the floor, sure to be lost until you dive into your shoe pile next fall. And speaking of that shoe pile, why not store your shoe collection in individual clear plastic boxes so they can be stacked and viewed at a moments notice. The thing to remember is that even your beloved Manolo Blahniks can steal your precious time if you're not careful..

A Brief History of HandbagsHave you ever wondered about the origin of handbags and purses? Handbags have been essential to daily life ever since people have had something precious to carry around with them and only the items have changed over time. The very first mention in written literature comes from the 14th century, even though Egyptian hieroglyphs show pouches carried around the waist. Bags were attached to what were called "girdles" which were fastened to the waist. Embroidery and jewels adorned these articles and were used to show status - the richer the person, the more elaborate the bag. More information on medieval clothing In the 16th century, handbags took on more of an air of practicality with the use of everyday materials such as leather with a drawstring fastener on top.

During this period, cloth bags were used that were made larger and used by travelers and carried diagonally across the body. The 17th century saw more variety and both fasionable men and women carried small purses with more complex shapes. Young girls were taught embroidery as a very necessary skill to make them marriagable and we see the rise of beautiful and unique stitched artwork in handbags. Neo-classical clothing became popular in the 18th century with a reduction in the amount of underclothing worn by women. Wearing a purse would ruin the look of this clothing so fasionable ladies started carrying their handbags which were called reticules.

Women had a different bag for every occasion and every fashion magazine had arguments on the proper carrying of these purses. In the reticules one would find rouge, face powder, a fan, a scent bottle, visiting cards a card case, and smelling salts. The term "handbag" first came into use in the early 1900's and generally referred to hand-held luggage bags usually carried by men. These were an inspiration for new bags that became popularized for women, including complicated fasteners, internal compartments, and locks. With this new fashion, jewelers got into the act with special compartments for opera glasses, cosmetics, and fans.

The 1920's saw a revolution in fashion with varying hemlines and lighter clothing. Bags no longer needed to match the outfit perfectly and the rage was for the stylish lady to carry a doll dressed exactly like herself, complete with matching bag for her minature companion! The discovery of King Tutankhamun's tomb inspired Egyptian art on purses. The 1940's saw new austerity in clothing, including handbags with the war effort in mind. Metal frames, zips, leather, and mirrors were in short supply so manufacters used plastic and wood. The 50's saw the rise of important designer houses including Chanel, Louis Vuitton, and Hermes and the 60's saw the breakdown of old notions of the classical and the rise of youth culture.

Copy is the most sincere form of flattery and, if so, Kate Spade, Gucci, Coach and Dior must be very flattered! There are many replica handbags flooding the market (just visit Canal Street in New York City!). Some of these "designer fakes" even carry the label of the Company they are imitating while others just have the signature "C" or "G" without the label. What's in the future of handbags? My personal prediction is more individualized bags and interesting fabrics. What do you think? Send me an e-mail with your own personal prediction for the future..

Have you ever thought of a handbag as a symbol of female power and authority? Of course everyone is different so a purse for one person may mean something totally different and unique for another but let's look at handbags from a different perspective. The press of England has spent time and effort speculating and commenting on ex-Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher's handbag. To quote "The Times" in June, 1982 written by Julian Critchley, "She...tends to believe the worst of the Foreign and Commonwealth Office. She cannot see an institution without hitting it with her handbag..."It's obvious that the press equates Margaret Thatcher's handbag with her assertion of power and the ability to impose her will. If you look closely, you will notice that her handbags closely resemble the Queen Mother's handbags. Is is because both of these powerful women choose the same type of bag or is Ex-Prime Minister Thatcher deliberately mimicking this female symbol of ultimate authority in her country? Negotiations are underway for the famous handbag to be placed in a museum that houses Winston Churchill's papers and historical documents from the War.

There is no indication that Mr. Churchill's wallet is stored in this prestigious collection but, then again, Margaret Thatcher was the first woman to impose her powerful presense (and pocketbook!) on 10 Downing Street!.

Never send a man to do a woman's job. You'd think I would have figured that out by now, but I haven't made my quota of mistakes just yet.Somehow I got it into my head to buy my friend a handbag. It seemed simple enough. I've never had a problem buying toolboxes, cabinets or file folders, so how hard would it be to pick up a handbag?"I would like to buy a handbag for a friend, please.""What kind of handbag," the smiling sales lady asked helpfully."Uh...one that carries stuff in it, I suppose. Is there any other kind?""There are very many kinds," SalesLady enthused.

"There is at least one for every occasion and several for every personality. What is your friend like?"I tried to think. Unfortunately, the only thought that wandered into my cerebrum was that maybe I should go across the street to the hardware store and just buy her a sturdy 205-piece socket set on sale for $74.99."Is she a bit wild?" SalesLady probed. "If so, we have these exciting leopard print handbags. They are perfect for howling out on the town."I tried to picture a leopard wandering into the bookshop caf?.

"I don't think 'wild' quite describes her.""Ah. Well these corset bags are not quite as wild," SalesLady offered.I blushed at the site. "That might be a bit too stylish for her. She's more...uh...""...conservative!" SalesLady piped in. "Here are some classic handbags, for more conservative tastes."I looked at the bags.

"I don't know. These look kind of boring to me."SalesLady was taken aback. "Boring? These are for professionals. They say your friend has arrived. They say she is climbing the corporate ladder.

They say, 'I am somebody.' Would you call Bill Gates boring? Would you call Donald Trump boring?""Donald Trump wears one of these?"The look on SalesLady's face said just one thing: "Men!""I don't think my friend is much of a professional corporate type. She's more casual.""Casual? We can do casual," SalesLady assured me. "Check out these suede handbags. Feel that texture. Soft as a baby's bottom.""Hey, they are soft.

They'd be great for pillow fights."Oops. SalesLady was taken aback again. "Ladies do not engage in pillow fights."I considered the suede handbags for a moment. "I think my friend might like something a little more trendy. Do you have anything trendy?""Trendy? You want trendy? We have lots of trendy!" SalesLady got all excited.

"How about this very popular high heel shoe handbag?" she offered. I had to admit it was original. And trendy. But I wasn't sure about giving my friend a bag she could kick me with.SalesLady read my mind. "I know," she sighed.

"You men all cower at the site of the high heel shoe handbag. How about an equally trendy jelly handbag instead?"I turned it over a few times. "Where's the peanut butter?" SalesLady snapped the bag back and handed me another. "Your friend will love these Initial bags," she said, showing me several bags with a single classy letter affixed to each. I considered how many bags my friend would have to carry to spell "Help, my dorky friend bought me too many handbags." I asked what else she could show me.She brought out a handbag covered with lip prints.

My eyes opened wide. "Wow. How come a handbag gets all the puckers?""They are not real," SalesLady assured me."It's still better than I've ever gotten." SalesLady mercifully ignored my comment. "How about these vinyl horoscope handbags?" "Now you're talking! My friend loves horoscopes."SalesLady looked relieved."But...""I know," SalesLady interrupted "She can find her horoscope in the newspaper. Let's try something else.

How about these little evening handbags?"I looked at the tiny purses. "They are cute, but they don't have much room to carry, say, a chainsaw."An hour later...The sales clerk at the hardware store rang up my purchase. "That'll be $29," she said.I handed her the money. "Thank you," I smiled. "I thought about getting the 205-piece socket set for my friend, but I know she will love this new handbag.""Handbag?" asked the confused clerk staring at the toolbox in my hand.

"Yes. And if she doesn't, at least she can't kick me with it.".

These may include:

Physical
Mental
Emotional
Social
and more (depending on the complexity of the challenge)
By doing so, you can then concentrate on each attribute at a time. This will no doubt give you more peace of mind (and pulling of your hairs) when generating your ideas. The attribute listing technique is often used in a Research & Development (R&D) department of many companies, especially those who are constantly producing innovative products to have an advantage over their competitors.Let's go through this worked example to give you a better understanding of how attributes listing can be of help to you.For example, if your challenge is to design a new ladies' handbag, you could list the attributes as: the physical aspects which include- shape, length, colour, materials used and on the emotional aspects-the stress some women faced of misplacing their handbags. You might choose to first tackle the emotional stress of losing one's handbag by creating a new small gadget to be placed within the handbag to sound the owner that she is moving too far away (maybe one or two metre away) from her ?treasure chest'.

After that, you could work on the other attributes, one by one, be it the shape or materials used for the handbag.Putting Your Elements to Work:Try to generate oodles of ideas using attributes listing with these sets of challenges:1. Design a new toy for children under 6 years old to teach them simple arithmetic. Safety is an important attribute.2. Create a campaign to encourage people to stop smoking. (Think through the attributes: Physical, Mental, Emotional and Social)3.

Set up an effective marketing plan (there are many parts to a good marketing plan: the 4 P's ? Product, Price, Place and Promotion) for your new products. Have Fun!.
