Love My Bag, LLC has announced a call for models at colleges nationwide.
This spring Love My Bag founder Jill Savarese will go on the road to promote up and coming designers with on-campus photo shoots and fashion events.
Last fall Love My Bag held its first modeling event at Yale University. "Everybody had a great time, including those who participated, and those who watched, as students strutted around modeling designer handbags," said Savarese.
"The courtyard, library, and common room of Calhoun College [at Yale, were transformed during our three-hour shoot with photographer Kim Heiligman.
We had wardrobe changes, fashion accoutrements like red-feather boas, and, of course, an eclectic array of handbags featuring the hottest trends of the season."Savarese attended Yale as an undergraduate and graduated with a degree in linguistics.
Her fond feelings for her alma mater naturally influenced her decision to hold the photo shoot there as did the vibrant atmosphere it provided.
Savarese said, "When I initially conceived the idea for doing a model shoot, I knew I wanted the setting to be Yale University.
Its autumnal, collegial ambience was exactly what I was looking for to complement the Fall line of handbags."The eight models (two male, six female) were cast after a rigorous selection process the week before when a number of hopeful candidates streamed into the common room of Calhoun College, all looking to secure a place in front of the camera.
Candidates filled out a personal profile and went through a short interview with Savarese and handbag designer Ashley Harrison.
Models were also encouraged to submit photos.
Savarese remarks, "I was pleasantly surprised by how many students showed up and how eager they were.
They approached fashion modeling with a great deal of seriousness and commitment."The students' display of enthusiasm caused Savarese and her team to agonize over the selection process, but after two days of poring over photographs and profiles, they selected eight models.
She says, "The way I think about handbags is that each bag has a distinct personality, and something magical happens when you discover your perfect handbag.
For me, that's truly one of the great feats of fashion."On the day of the shoot Savarese provided the designer handbags, and students brought their own choice of dress and accessories, keeping in mind the fall's trends of faux fur, tweed, houndstooth and crystal brooches.
Like children to a gigantic cookie jar, the students delved into Savarese's collection of designer handbags in hopes of finding and modeling that "perfect" handbag.
"Jill's collection is amazing ? she has something for everyone.
By the end of the shoot, I had my eye on so many bags and wanted to take everything home," one female model said. And while it's true that students could not take everything home, they were entitled to a custom-made CD containing their photos and $100 in cash or credit to be redeemed for handbags or any other item, like wallets, mints or fashion notebooks, sold on the website: www.lovemybag.com.
Savarese plans to update the site with pictures from upcoming photo shoots. Said Savarese, "It's an honor to work with such a stellar group of animated, young people.
It's a pleasure for me to be able to inject their lives with a healthy dose of fashion and bring out the glamour in them.
We all need that at some point in our lives, and it's rewarding to know these students were able to experience that through Love My Bag.com."About Love My BagLove My Bag promotes and sells authentic designer handbags and encourages customers to be informed. Bay Area Girl Carves Out a Niche for Herself with Cake Sculptures
(ContentDesk) November 30, 2005 -- Debbie Goard launches web site to promote the eating of dogs , bags and dead rats (uh, cake interpretations, that is). Mid November 2005 marked the long time coming launch of www.debbiedoescakes.netDebbie is an Oakland resident by way of North Carolina. She has a background in art, with nearly two decades of experience in cake design. Over the course of her career she has crafted a motley array of edible artworks. Most recently, she served a stint in a San Francisco bakery that specialized in x-rated cakes, but not limited to them.
Catering to bachelorette parties, the work was interesting, to say the least, but Debbie really savored the opportunities to veer from the "adult" themes and satisfy her love of sculpture. Her designs have run the gamut from edible purses to the aforementioned dead rat cakes.Still, while she enjoyed her work she never really...

How to Look Fashionable on a Budget
Everyone wants to look "in style", no matter if they work full time or stay at home. For many of us, keeping up with the trends, and updating our closets can get pretty expensive. Many times you hear women, especially new mothers, saying that they just don't have the extra money it takes to look fashionable. Even though money can be tight for any of us, mothers or not, looking your best does not have to break your bank account. Here are some easy tips for looking your best on a limited budget:
1)Look for catalogs online that offer "deferred payment".
The most popular ones out there today are Chadwicks, Newport News, Spiegel, and Lerner. They don't always offer this, so register your email address with them, and very quickly you should start receiving invites from them to use their "90 day deferred billing option".
Use a debit card if you can, but make sure that whatever your total is, you start saving that amount NOW. For instance, 90 days, or 3...
